Steve Forbes
Chairman and CEO of Forbes Inc.
Steve Forbes is chairman and chief executive officer of Forbes Inc. and editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine.
Under his leadership, the company has launched a variety of new publications and businesses, including
ForbesLife, ForbesLife Executive Woman,
Forbes Asia; and
Forbes licensee editions published in China, Croatia, India, Israel, Korea, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Turkey.
The company also publishes a number of investment newsletters.
Another division of the company is Forbes Investors Advisory Institute.
In 1996, Forbes entered the new media arena with the launch of Forbes.com,
which has become a leading destination site for senior business
decision-makers and investors. Forbes also
launched ForbesAutos.com and ForbesTraveler.com.
Other company divisions include Forbes Conference Group, Forbes Investors Advisory Institute, and Investopedia.com.
The company’s flagship publication, Forbes, is a leading business magazine, with a circulation of more than
900,000.
The combined audience of Forbes' magazines is over five million readers.
Mr. Forbes writes editorials for each issue of Forbes under the heading of "Fact and Comment."
As an economic prognosticator, he is the only writer to have won the highly prestigious Crystal Owl Award four times.
The prize was formerly given by US Steel Corporation to the financial journalist whose economic forecasts for the coming year
proved most accurate.
In both 1996 and 2000, Mr. Forbes campaigned for the Republican nomination for the presidency.
Key to his platform were a flat tax, medical savings accounts, a new Social Security system for working Americans,
parental choice of schools for their children, term limits and a strong national defense.
Mr. Forbes continues to energetically promote this agenda.
Mr. Forbes is the author of Flat Tax Revolution: Using a Postcard to Abolish the IRS (Regnery, 2005) and A New Birth of Freedom (Regnery, 1999).
In 1985, President Reagan named Mr. Forbes chairman of the bipartisan Board for International Broadcasting (BIB),
where he oversaw the operation of Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty and was reappointed
by President George H. W. Bush, serving until 1993.
He received a BA in history from Princeton in 1970.
There he was the founding editor of Business Today,
which became the country's largest magazine published by students for students, and it continues to be
published today by Princeton undergraduates.
Mr. Forbes serves on the boards of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, the Heritage Foundation, and
The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.
Plus he's on the Board of Overseers of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Board of Visitors for the
School of Public Policy of Pepperdine University, and the Board of Trustees of Princeton University.

Jim Stengel
Retired Global Marketing Officer, Proctor & Gamble
Jim Stengel is the former global marketing officer of $83B Procter & Gamble, where he oversaw an $8B advertising budget and had
organizational responsibility for nearly 7,000 people. Highly regarded, his leadership was recognized in 2008 when P&G was
honored as the 2008 Cannes International Advertising Festival Advertiser of the Year.
His new venture, Jim Stengel, LLC, is both think tank and consultancy. He's conducting proprietary research,
generating thought leadership and applying a new framework to drive business growth in today's global economy.
The Jim Stengel approach is strategic and holistic, with a mission to lift business performance through a focus on higher ideals.
A writer and speaker, Stengel is best known for reinvigorating P&G's marketing culture. He personally led the transformation
that established P&G as a highly admired brand-building company.
This transformation was based on a deep commitment to innovation based on consumer understanding, paired with
disciplined measurement techniques.
Stengel is also known for guiding branding and marketing efforts to make a positive impact in the lives of consumers,
and this is his focus for the future:
- To help business leaders improve performance by defining deeper ideals behind their brands
- To "give back" by inspiring younger people who will be the next generation of marketing professionals.
In June 2009, Stengel was appointed an adjunct professor of marketing at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Stengel previously had profit and loss responsibility for P&G's European baby-care business and achieved all-time high profitability,
and initiated innovative programs for the
Pampers® franchise.
Before that, Stengel was general manager of the Czech and Slovak Republics for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
While there, he led the startup operation, achieved dramatic category growth, and helped major new retail customers establish
themselves in the region.
Stengel is widely known for leading innovation and for his commitment to building leading-edge marketing capabilities.
As a result, he was recognized in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007 by Advertising Age as the number-one "Power Player" in marketing.
In 2005, he was recognized as Grand Marketer of the Year by Brandweek magazine, the same
year P&G was named Marketer of the Year by Advertising Age magazine.
He is the co-author of a 2003 Harvard Business Review article titled Listening Begins at Home.
Giving back is important to Stengel. He has served on the board of The Advertising Council,
was chairman of the Association of National Advertisers and chairman of the American Advertising Federation Hall of Fame.
He served on the board for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.
Stengel is on the Board of Directors for AOL and the Motorola Corporation. He is an advisor for MarketShare Partners,
an industry-leading marketing analytics firm, and for Spencer Trask Collaborative Innovations, LLC.

Terry Jones
Founder of Travelocity.com, Chairman of Kayak.com and e-Commerce Pioneer
Terry Jones is on the cutting edge of innovation and change. As founder of Travelocity.com, chairman of Kayak.com, and Chief Information Officer at American Airlines/Sabre, Jones has a proven track record of leading companies whose innovations have changed an industry. For the last five years through his consulting practice, as a board member and as a venture capitalist, Jones has been helping companies use the tools and techniques he’s developed to keep up with this rapidly changing world.
As Jones has worked in small startups and the corporate world he has a unique perspective on innovation and can offer audiences real world examples of how to create a culture of innovation in their companies.
A lively, humorous and entertaining speaker, Jones always does the research necessary to customize his presentations. Jones’ credentials have breadth and depth. In the 70s Jones helped create one the of the fastest growing business travel companies ever formed. In the 80s and 90s Jones led product development, programming and operations at American Airlines SABRE, the computer system that became a Harvard case study on automating your customers. Then in 1996 he founded Travelocity.com and took it from a team of 10 to a multi billion dollar public company. But he didn’t stop there; after leaving Travelocity he became chairman of Kayak.com, a completely different travel site that in three years is the size of Priceline.
A graduate of Denison University, Jones entered the business world in 1971 as a travel agent. Today he serves as principal of Essential Ideas, a company he founded to help companies in the transition to the digital economy. He is chairman of Kayak.com and serves on the boards of Rearden Commerce, Smart Destinations and EarthLink. He is a special venture partner at General Catalyst Partners and serves on the boards of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and the Technical Advisory Committee of the Boy Scouts of America.

Stuart Varney
Business and Financial Journalist for FOX News
Charismatic, articulate, and candid, Stuart Varney wins rave reviews from audiences, and is credited with changing the way that television
reports on financial and economic news worldwide. A Fox News Channel anchor, he joined the Fox Business Network as an anchor in
October, 2007, where he is the host of the daily morning show, Varney & Company.

Donald F. Lavanty, J.D.
DTA's Legislative Counsel
Donald F. Lavanty, J.D. is DTA's legislative counsel on healthcare, with a wealth of federal policy and political experience and
health care law and policy is his academic area of research.
As a tenured Professor at the School of Business Administration, Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, he instructs for the
Graduate Programs in Legal Administration and Health Care Management and Policy.
He teaches graduate courses in law and for the Health Care Management program.
In addition, he serves on the University's Institutional Review, Planning, and the Honors and Awards committees.
He also serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Naval School of Health Sciences,
Department of the Navy, Bethesda, Maryland, instructing on the Political Aspects of Health Care.
Prior to joining Marymount University, he worked as a lecturer at Montgomery College.
He recently made a presentation on the "Political Aspects of Health Care" to the Naval School of Health Sciences.
In addition, he was a presenter on "Health Care Issues before the 106th Congress" at the
Washington Intelligence Reports on National Health Care forum, sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Department of Pathology
Mr. Lavanty is a seasoned advocate, having represented more than a dozen organizations, including the American College of Radiology;
Glossco Free Trade N.V. Compliance Program (Country of Aruba);
the American Optometric Association; American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science;
The Federation of American Indians; The American Trucking Association; Daylin Industries;
The BDM Corporation; and The Chalista Corporation.
Mr. Lavanty previously served as the Legislative Counsel for the American Hospital Association and Associate Director of the American Optometric Association.
While earning his B.A. and J.D. degrees from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., he served on the U.S. Capitol Police Force.
After law school, Mr. Lavanty served during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Marine Corp, 1st Marine Brigade Legal Office,
where he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
He has been published in the International Society of Technology Assessment in Health Care and the American Association for Advancement of Science.
Prof. Lavanty holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Business from The George Washington University.
He received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
