Keynote Speaker - John Foley, Former Blue Angels Lead Solo Pilot

John Foley has been recognized as one of the top 10 most in demand speakers. John has spoken to some of the Highest Performing organizations such as, Microsoft, Hitachi, Intel, Cisco, Mercedes‐Benz, BMW, Goodyear, Chevron, Lowe’s, Marriott, Wyndham Hotels, Hilton, Penske Racing, Rawlings, LA Kings, Sprint, Motorola, Merrill Lynch, Mass Mutual, Capital Group, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, GE Capital, American Hospital Association, Merck, Reach Air, Adecco, Gillette, McDonalds, and Million Dollar Round Table.

He is a former lead solo pilot of the Blue Angels, a Sloan Fellow at Stanford School of Business, a gratitude guru and an expert in the how of High Performance teams. Dr. Ataii is an award-winning clinical instructor and a graduate of Tufts Dental School who is a recognized dental speaker practicing over the past 24 years in Laguna Hills, California. He has provided doctors and their team members nationally and internationally clinical eduction, sharing the results of his research and innovative practice growth techniques.  As an author, Dr. Ataii holds both national and international peer-reviewed awards and dental journal publications, as well as mainstream press and television. Dr. Ataii has developed and continues to develop solutions to improve and simplify how comprehensive dentistry is delivered to patients. As a patent holder of an FDA cleared oral sleep device, he continues to innovate and invent dental health solutions helping dental practices reap the rewards of modern technology for their patients.. He also serves on multiple company boards and is a recognized key opinion leader.

Timothy L. Ricks, D.M.D., M.P.H., F.I.C.D., currently serves as the 19th Chief Dental Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service as well as Assistant Surgeon General. He serves as the Surgeon General’s spokesperson on oral health and interacts with chief dental officers from other countries, with military chief dental officers, with leaders in organized dentistry, with state oral health programs, and much more. He is currently overseeing the development of the second-ever Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health. Rear Adm. Ricks has served in the U.S. Public Health Service for over 21 years. Prior to this service, he was an associate dentist, independent contractor, and sole proprietor, and he also served as a military police officer in the Army National Guard.

Dr. Teresa Dolan is Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Dentsply Sirona and leads the global Clinical Affairs function, supports new product development and oversees the largest global clinical education program sponsored by dental industry. Dr. Dolan joined Dentsply Sirona after serving as professor and dean of the University of Florida College of Dentistry from 2003 until 2013. As chief academic officer, she managed a $62M operating budget, with $13.7M in research funding and revenue from more than 100,000 annual patient visits. She is recognized for her contributions to dental public health, geriatric dentistry and as a champion for diversity and women in dentistry. Dr. Dolan is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University; she earned a DDS degree from the University of Texas and a MPH degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Dental Health Services Research Scholar, completed a Veterans Administration Fellowship in Geriatric Dentistry, is a member of the Santa Fe Group, and is a board certified in Dental Public Health.

Burl began his career with the U. S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina as a loan officer at the Sacramento, California Field Office Center-West. That office is responsible for responding to declared disasters in Federal Regions VI–X, including 23 states from the Mississippi river west to Guam in the Pacific. Following his tenure as a loan officer, Burl transferred to the FOC-West Public Information Office as a Public Information Officer (PIO). In this role, he provides public communications, Congressional relations and survivor customer service in multiple county areas, at Disaster Recovery Centers, SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers and other on-site locations.

Over the past ten years, Burl has responded to numerous floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires that have destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses including: Hurricanes Ike, Irene, Sandy and Harvey, wildfires in California, floods and tornadoes in the Midwest.

Before joining SBA, Burl spent 22 years with two Bell System telephone companies in Sales and Marketing, IT Systems Special Projects and corporate Minority and Women’s Business Procurement. He has provided management and IT consulting to small businesses and Private non-profit organizations.

Jay Crowley is currently Vice President, UDI Solutions and Services, at USDM Life Sciences. Prior to joining the firm in January 2014, Crowley was Senior Advisor for Patient Safety, in FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health. He held a variety of positions over his nearly 27 years at FDA. Jay had primary responsibility for the development and implementation of FDA’s Unique Device Identification System and the development of the GHTF and IMDRF UDI guidance documents.

Mike is the President of P&R Dental Strategies and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of growing the business including sales, marketing and business development activities. Mike has over 20 years’ experience in the health care informatics space and has developed and successfully sold a variety of informatics solutions to all stakeholders in the health care marketplace including payers, providers, suppliers and consumers. Mike has worked at informatics companies large and small, public and private, including: HCIA, Solucient, Pharmetrics and IMS Health. Mike has a BA from Syracuse University and an MBA and an MHA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Ty is our Chief Operating Officer and responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the company’s claims review and informatics activities. Ty has spent over twenty-five years in medical, dental, vision and other specialized insurance program operations, where she has successfully managed a variety of commercial and public dental programs and has implemented multiple data-driven solutions for quality assurance and quality improvement. Ty has held senior leadership positions with several commercial dental insurance companies, served as the Executive Director of the Texas Healthy Kids Corporation, and served as the Deputy Commissioner, Life/Health Group for the Texas Department of Insurance.

Marko Vujicic currently serves as Chief Economist and Vice President of the Health Policy Institute at the American Dental Association. Previously, he was Senior Economist with The World Bank in Washington D.C. where he focused on health systems reform in developing countries and directed the global health workforce policy program. He was also a Health Economist with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In all of these roles, Dr. Vujicic led large-scale strategic initiatives focused on bringing cutting edge data and research to specific health policy challenges.

Dr. Vujicic has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Health Affairs, The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Social Science and Medicine, and Medical Care. He is also the lead author of the book, Working in Health, which examines health workforce challenges globally and has written several book chapters on health care policy issues. His team’s work has been cited by CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, NOVA, and The Atlantic. He has been invited to provide testimony to federal and state legislative committees.

Mr. Zapiain has served as senior medical technology specialist in Industry and Analysis in the International Trade Administration since 1998. He devotes most of his time to working with the U.S. medical device industry and with international health and trade ministries to reduce obstacles in exchange of medical technology. Mr. Zapiain counsels numerous U.S. exporters of medical devices.

Some of Mr. Zapiain’s more salient experience with the International Trade Administration deals with international trade agreements, standards, and regulations. He first worked on the well-known U.S.-Japan Semiconductor Arrangement and has worked extensively with APEC and also with the European Commission on the U.S. – EU Medical Device Mutual Recognition Agreement. He won the Gold Medal, the Department’s highest honor, for his work on the Suspension Agreement on Steel Products from the People’s Republic of China. Mr. Zapiain is a graduate of the Department’s Executive Leadership Development Program, and served as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Industry and Analysis.
